Hark! The Christmas Season is finally upon us. And when I say upon us I mean there’s tinsel and elbows and screaming and queues and money and depression and homelessness and a fucking Coca-Cola lorry and Wings and it really is too bright in here and yes, you guessed it, it’s beginning to look a lot like bullshit.

Full of Christmas jingle, HY manned a stall at The Mill Road Winter Fair earlier this month. For those of you unfamiliar with Mill Road, it’s sort of like the arsehole of Cambridge. At any given point in the day you can see a man walking down the road with a tattoo on his neck, shirt off, struggling to eat a kebab. There’s loads of cool and hip independent hang outs like Nip-In and Grill House, and for balance there’s also a Sainsbury’s Local and Tesco Express to get your yellow label dinners.

Being awkwardly unsure about pretty much anything, we were a bit ‘on edge’ as to how we would be received among the carefully arranged wicker baskets, jams and jewelry. Our tablecloth didn’t fit. We forgot half of our stuff. John was recovering from bronchitis. Nic’s feet are cold at the best of times. However to our surprise, people were engaging with us and our work consistently throughout the day. The tick-tock thought process and the lightbulb reaction when it all clicks really was a wonderful thing to see. “Oh, that’s quite good!”. “Hmm, that’s a bit distasteful”. We said bashful thank yous and sheepish sorrys in equal measure. But to speak to real people and get their opinion on what we do was a real treat for us. We sold loads of stuff and met loads of nice guys. It was a Christmas miracle!

So, if you were at The Mill Road Winter Fair and you bought something from us, or if you unfortunately receive a Hot Yoghurt present or Christmas card during the festive season, please share a photo with us. We’d love to see what you look like! (not in that way)
